Monday, May 30th (Day 5) A trip to the park for some fresh air and fun.
Tuesday, May 31st (Day 6)
Carson received a special video from his class which put him in the mood to send the love back to them by dressing up and sending them a pic of his own. Carson is very lucky to have such wonderful, thoughtful and caring teachers and classmates.
Wednesday, June 1st (Day 7)
Solidarity day! Time to show Carson that we'll do anything to support him. Carson's the best barber in town. Carson cut Gryffin and Eric's hair. Gryffin wanted to look like his big bro.
Friday, June 3rd (Day 9)
Since Carson's seizure on January 3rd, he's been taking anti-seizure meds twice a day for 6 months, so it's time for another EEG to determine if he can stop taking them or continue. We have a meeting with the neurologist on June 15th to get the results.
He also needed his first blood transfusion because his hemoglobin levels were too low.
Sunday, June 5th (Day 11)
We found a new park in Findlay Creek, and we brought some friends. Carson needs to pack on the calories, so he's snacking away. He received a few more gifts, including some Duplo blocks from his cousin Chelsea and a quilt from Erica's childhood neighbour in Orleans.
June 7th - June 9th (Day 13- 15)
He needed another platelet transfusion in the morning after his usual bloodwork appointment.
In the evening, he spiked a fever, so we had to take a trip to the emergency room. We spent 1 night in the ER, and then we were admitted to 4N. He did some blood work, a COVID swab and a urine test and it was determined that he didn't have a virus. The doctors believe that his low levels of neutrophils most likely caused the fever.
Friday, June 10th (Day 16)
After only spending 1 night in his own bed, Carson was back in the hospital for a series of tests. In order to be able to do the Stem Cell Harvesting process at SickKids in Toronto scheduled on Monday June 13-14, all his levels have to be high enough in order to proceed. All his levels are high enough except for his platelets. He needs to be at 50, and he's at 47.
Sunday, June 12th (Day 18)
We are going to CHEO to do blood work at 9am because he may need a platelets transfusion if he's still under 50. We're heading to Toronto in the afternoon because Carson is scheduled to do his stem cell harvesting at Sick Kids. Eric, Erica and Carson will be heading to Toronto from June 12th to June 14. Carson will be heading back to CHEO on June 16 to begin round 3.
